TEAMS & TRYOUTS
Q: WHAT PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED?
We offer Regional programs for ages 15U through 18U.
Q: IS THERE A TRYOUT FEE AND WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
There is a one time $25 tryout fee. You should come dressed and ready to play volleyball. You also need to be a member of USAV Great Lakes Region - www.greatlakesvolleyball.org.
Q: WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING TRYOUTS?
Expect to be put through some basic drills, do some hitting, serving and possibly scrimmage with evaluations happening while those take place.
Q: DO I HAVE TO ATTEND MORE THAN ONE TRYOUT?
No. You do not have to attend more than one tryout.
Q: MY HIGH SCHOOL TEAM IS STILL IN SEASON, CAN I PARTICIPATE IN TRYOUTS?
We ask that you come to the tryouts regardless of the status of your high school teams season. Attendance is necessary to get names, ages and positions for available spots on teams.
Q: WHEN WILL I KNOW WHEN I’M ACCEPTED?
You will know as soon as possible following the completion of regularly scheduled tryouts.
Q: HOW MANY PLAYERS PER TEAM?
The maximum numbers of players per team will be 12. We will also not field a team with less than 9 players.
Q: ARE PLAYERS ALLOWED TO “PLAY UP”?
Players are allowed to “play up” after a discussion with parents, Club Director and Head Coach.
Q: WHEN WILL I KNOW WHAT TEAM I MADE?
Teams will be finalized within a few days of the last tryout date.
Q: I WAS SELECTED TO A TEAM WHAT NOW?
To secure your spot on the team you must pay the $100 deposit, otherwise your spot will not be held.
Q: WHEN IS THE COMMITMENT DATE?
Final commitments are made with the deposit and once teams are full no more commitments will be taken.
COST, DISCOUNTS & FEES
Q: WHAT ARE CLUB COST AND PAYMENT OPTIONS?
Total club cost is $1450 with 4 payment options available. A deposit of $100 is due the day you accept your position on the team (tryouts).
Q: ARE SIBLING CREDITS AVAILABLE?
Siblings playing for TIV will be given a credit of $100 per each siblings club cost.
Q: ARE ANY OTHER CREDITS AVAILABLE?
We are offering a $100 credit for referring a new player that plays during the same season. This referral credit is unlimited (i.e. refer 6 new club members and receive $600 credit towards your club cost). **Referral must be specified at time of tryout registration in the provided referral section.
Q: ARE THERE ADDITIONAL CLUB EXPENSES?
There will be a required uniform package of $240.
Other necessary purchases are a whistle, a volleyball for tournaments, white knee pads and white socks.
You also must be a member of the Great Lakes Region.
Q: WHAT IS THE GREAT LAKES REGION MEMBERSHIP?
Each player must be a member for the region to participate in any club activities. The yearly Full Junior Membership cost is $55. There is a $10 Tryout Membership that will allow your daughter to participate in club tryouts (for all clubs). After a team is chosen you will then need to pay the Full Junior Upgrade Membership of $45.
PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Q: WHAT IS THE POLICY FOR PARENT INVOLVEMENT?
We strongly encourage parent involvement in their daughters season. Communication with Club Directors and staff is welcomed anytime.
**Exception: During tournaments please refrain from addressing any issues with the coaching staff as we feel matters are better left discussed after tournament play is completed.
Q: WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE PARENTS?
Being a positive influence in your daughters club experience is strongly encouraged, as well as for the other players on the team. We ask that parents not distract the attention of their daughter during practices or tournaments. Team coaches will handle the coaching during practices and tournaments. Parents are welcome to attend practices but practices will be completely organized and run by the TIV staff and there is no need for parent involvement in them.
Parents play a huge role in making the club experience a positive one for players. The staff at TIV would like to partner up with all parents in making the club season as positive and fun as possible for all the girls.
PRACTICES
Q: WHEN ARE PRACTICES?
Practices will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30-8:30pm.
Q: WHERE WILL PRACTICES BE HELD?
All practices will be held at the Wood Dale Park District at 111 Foster Ave., Wood Dale, IL 60191
Q: DO WE OFFER POSITIONAL TRAINING?
There will be positional training during regularly scheduled practice times.
Q: DO TEAMS PRACTICE TOGETHER OR SEPARATELY?
Similar age groups will practice together, but teams will have individual court time.
Q: HOW DOES TIV HANDLE MULTI-SPORT ATHLETES?
Multi-sport athletes are WELCOMED and ENCOURAGED with proper communication of schedule.
Q: WHAT IF THERE IS A CONFLICT TO ATTEND A PRACTICE OR TOURNAMENT?
If conflicts arise please let the Club Director and your coach know with as much advance notice as possible. Missing consecutive practices may result in decreased playing time for that weekends tournament.
Q: WHAT IS THE PHILOSOPHY ON PLAYING TIME?
At the Regional team level playing time will be distributed as evenly as possible within positional roles. Players open to playing/learning other positions may receive more playing time. Missing practices could result in decreased playing time.
Q: ARE EVALUATIONS DONE OF PLAYER PERFORMANCE?
Coaches will do a player evaluations to give player and parent feedback.
TOURNAMENTS & LOCATIONS
Q: WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE MATCHES?
Typical Tournament schedule is 8 power league dates and running from January through Mid-March
Tournaments are held on Saturdays and/or Sundays around the Chicagoland area generally beginning at 8am and go until mid to late afternoon. Power League play dates are typically 3 played matches and 1-2 matches as the work team.
Q: WHAT IS THE POLICY FOR THE WORK TEAM (REFEREE) MATCHES?
All players are required to participate in the work team matches.
